Cameron Rota

Today, Mrs Ogden surprised us all by calling Cameron Rota. I was so keyed up! I felt like every muscle in my body suddenly came alive. Do you know who Cameron is? Cameron Rota is one of the contestants in The X-factor New Zealand. He came up to the Judges Retreats and got eliminated there. But, his career is not over yet. He is now going to Jamaica with Daniel Beddingfield to record some songs. Anyway, today, he sang to us five, amazing songs. His voice was awesome! I think he deserved to go to the finals. But, that was the judges decision. Back to reality, some kids in my class video-taped him. I wish I could see it. At the end of his performance, some kids wanted to get his autograph. My friend and I got the permission from Mr Walker to get Cameron's autograph as well. Sadly, he wasn't giving out autographs. The reason lays unknown. But, at the bright side, one girl says she got his autograph. My friend talked to her teacher personally, and she said she would photocopy the autograph for us. So, that made me pleased. Interesting as it may be, a girl in my class is actually related to him! So, that is great as well. And the best part is, he really made my day :)

  1. Renitta, what a fantastic piece of writing. I could sense your excitement coming through which means that you had chosen your words, structure and flow very well. While, his music isn't my favourite type I was really impressed by his ability to get up on stage and sing like that, to think he is only 14! I will make sure that I load the video footage up on to the class blog for you.

    2. Hello Mr Walker,
Thank you so much for taking your time to post a comment. I was mighty thrilled when he came to our school to sing. Not everyday a famous young man comes to our school! I agree with you, he was VERY brave to get on stage and sing his heart out. Maybe because he has been singing to a lot of celebrities lately, he does not feel afraid, neither does he have stagefright. I am so happy for him. It is very sad that I did not get his autograph. Some kids say that he will be coming by the end of the term. I wonder if that is true.

I also want to do a solo singing performance on stage one day. It would be an awesome experience and a great privilege to do it.

      Thank you once again.

  2. Hi Renitta,
I think your school is very lucky to have an X-Factor contestant come to sing. I wish I could have someone famous come to my school.
    What was your favourite part?

  3. Hello Anonymous,
Thank you so much for your comment. I enjoyed reading it. My favourite part was when he sang the song 'Around the World'. His voice was a sensation when he sang it.
